MONITORING
As thrust-boring and directional drilling are now commonly used for utility crossings under roads and railway tracks it is important that they are monitored for settlement or movement before, during and after the drilling process. The relevant authority will usually specify the location and quantity of monitoring points to be used. Usually these points are observed with an electronic level at regular intervals to ensure that their levels don’t deviate outside a specified range. While we monitor the levels and liaise directly with the road/rail authority the contractor can concentrate on construction.
